Generally, we find that security is not a primary concern in the day to day operations of our clients and tends to fall on the backburner. All of our employees undergo extensive background checks, and are registered, trained & certified by the Department of Criminal Justice Services (DCJS). We take on 100% of the insurance liability, limiting the risks and danger to your business that accompany managing in-house security. Furthermore, we have employees on standby for any last minute security needs you may experience. Simply put, Proper Staffing Security enables you to avoid all the hassles and experience all of the benefits of utilizing premier security services. All of the hiring, firing, no shows, last minute call-outs, complaints, insurance liability, and potential lawsuits are covered by Proper Staffing Security. And, don’t forget, PSS can be a tax write off.
What training do your employees receive?
All our employees are individually registered with DCJS, which includes submitting fingerprints for a full FBI background check before they can report for their first day of duty. In addition, each employee must, at a minimum, take and pass the OIE Training Course administered by a certified / accredited DCJS training school within the first 90 days of their employment. When this process has been completed and the employee receives their DCJS certification (hard card), all employees must then maintain and keep current that DCJS certification (hard card) by passing an inservice training course administered by a certified/accredited DCJS training school every two years and renew their registration with DCJS every two years.
I’ve heard that some security companies operate illegally. What should I be on the lookout for?
Any legit/legal security company should be able to provide you with the following:
- DCJS Security License & Number
- Assigned DCJS Compliance Agent to the company
- Insurance policy
- Workman’s Comp policy
- A current business license
In addition, DCJS should always be listed as the certificate holder on the certificate of liability insurance which ensures continued coverage during operation. All employees must carry and possess a current DCJS certification ID (hard card) whenever they are working. If the company subcontracts their security work to another security company, then the security company receiving that subcontracted work must also meet all of these above requirements. Should your security company fail to meet any of these requirements, then you could be held liable for any and all insurance claims including, but not limited to additional sanctions as applicable by Virgnia State Law. Don’t forget, you can always contact DCJS directly to check a security company out!
How long will my contract with PSS last?
Unlike other security companies, we will not lock you into a lengthy contract. We believe that our work stands for itself, and the absence of an extended contract helps us ensure that we deliver the best service day in and day out to your business. Any issues or concerns that may arise will be addressed immediately. If for whatever reason you wish to terminate our services, then you can walk away at any point with no penalties whatsoever. It really is a no-lose situation for you.
How often will I need to utilize your services?
At PSS, our goal is to be as flexible as possible in order to meet the unique needs of each one of our clients. Therefore, you can use us full-time, part-time, seasonally, or on an as-needed basis. If you already have current security in place, we are happy to supplement your security team whenever PSS is needed. If you happen to have an in-house security guard on staff that you would like to keep, but would still like to utilize PSS to meet insurance liability concerns as well, we will gladly hire that individual under our company coverage (as long as he/she meets all requirements as set forth by DCJS and Virginia State Law). Note: In-house individual(s) will not be covered by PSS insurance. For us, no job is too big, small, frequent, or infrequent.
